Should I seek therapy?

Updated: Jul 9, 2019

One of the things I get asked most frequently is when is the right time to seek professional help. Well, the answer is now.

There's a misnomer in our culture that mental health treatment is reserved for those who are at the end of their rope or who have a "nervous breakdown", but just as you take your vitamins and see your primary care doctor once a year, it's equally as important to take care of your mental health. And that means checking in with someone. Therapy can help to provide you support and encouragement, but can also give you much needed tools for better communication, coping skills for those anxious or aggitated moments, and increased awareness of yourself.

As I launch this site and consider my goals for River Counseling I hope people will come and go feeling a bit more at ease about this world of mental health care. I have an open door policy. Contact me with questions, concerns and ideas and lets find out how we can work together.
